North-East Regional Development Agency celebrated 10 years of activity

10/04/2009

Thursday, April the 9th, starting with 16:00 hours, North-East Regional Development Agency celebrated the anniversary of 10 years, at Piatra Neamt, together with employees, customers and traditional partners.

Regional Development Agency North-East is a non-governmental, non-profit organization, of public utility, with legal personality established by law of regional development no. 151 / 1998 and the decision of the Court of Neamt nr.38PJ/01.04.1999. The agency is the executive body of the North-East Regional Development Board, the body responsible for elaborating and implementing regional development policies.

Founded after the signed agreement of 6 county councils - Bacau, Botosani, Iasi, Neamt, Suceava and Vaslui - to form North-East Regional Development Agency, the agency has established its headquarter in Piatra Neamt and began its activity having a number of 10 employees.

Preparation of the first regional socio-economic analysis, setting up the strategic areas of intervention or launching the first scheme of grant at the regional level - Phare ESC 1998 were in those years the firsts objectives assumed, and then achieved.

If the firsts projects implemented were oriented towards supporting the SME sector, human resource development and tourism, gradually the range of regional development programs have diversified including support for direct investment in micro-enterprises and SMEs, development of educational and business infrastructure, support for social services. Once the new role as Intermediate Body for the Regional Operational Program 2007-2013, the financed sphere were completed by infrastructure projects, either big scale projects of road infrastructure, social infrastructure, health, education or development of business environment and tourism.

Understanding the necessity of learning the regulations and procedures of the European Commission, with the support of partners from Italy and the UK, but also from the desire to do things impeccably, the North-East RDA team has improved constantly. Organizational structure of the agency has grown every year, including new services and departments: the function of legal advice, internal audit department - 2001, human resources department - 2002, marketing and investments department - 2002, offices dedicated to programming activity, implementation and monitoring for future Structural Funds - 2005, Directorate Management ROP-2007. Today, 80 employees share the same values, the same openness to all stakeholders interested in development of the region, and the same determination to keep these high standards.

Recognition of efforts came as something natural: 85% degree of absorption of pre-accession funds, 677 projects implemented, over 5,000 jobs created through funded projects, a Regional Development Plan which sets out the priorities of the Region, mobilization of resources for foreign investments, 300 projects submitted in the Regional Operational Program, of which 35 were contracted, in the near future an International Office to Brussels to represent the North-East Region, but, above all, the respect of partners, whether it was the beneficiaries, members of the North-East Regional Development Board, members of ministries or international partners.

Mission Statement

RDA is a generator of economic and social development in the North-East Region. RDA develops strategies, attracts resources, identifies and implements financing programmes and offers services for stimulating sustainable economic development, partnerships and entrepreneurial spirit.

Optimistic plans for tomorrow:

"Thanks to everyone who contributed to the institutional development of North-East RDA, all beneficiaries who have urged us to be better and better, more professional, more attentive to their needs and those who have been beside us these 10 years. We did things together that we are proud of: the figures become reality, the North-East Region defied the statistics and became known not only by indicators, but by its potential, through quality of people, we became a model of good practice in the various environments.

The next period will be a test for us. We are confident that good results will continue, and in 2013 the North-East Region will become a more attractive place to live, work, invest and spend your free time.
" said Mr. Constantin Apostol, General Director of North-East RDA and  host of the event.
